Tim Boyle will be the New York Jets’ starting quarterback against the Miami Dolphins on Friday, two people with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press.

Boyle will replace Zach Wilson, who became the team’s No. 1 quarterback after Aaron Rodgers tore the Achilles tendon in his left foot on the fourth play of the Jets’ opener on September 11.

This will be Boyle’s fourth NFL start, and his first since 2021 with the Detroit Lions. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the team has yet to announce anything.

Wilson and the Jets offense have struggled this season, and head coach Robert Saleh benched the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft late in the third quarter of a 32-game game. -6 in favor of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Boyle replaced Wilson – and now he’ll get a start after a short week of preparation as the Jets take on their AFC East rivals, the Dolphins, in the first NFL game to be hosted in of Black Friday.
