(Paris) Canadian Leylah Fernandez, 60th in the world, won the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong on Sunday, the third title of her career, by overthrowing Czech Katerina Siniakova (85th) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Aged 21, Fernandez, finalist at the United States Open in 2021, had so far triumphed in one and the same tournament, in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2021 and 2022. And the left-hander had to battle for almost three hours Sunday to overcome Sinikiova, reversing a bad situation after losing the first set by being broken twice.

For this, the Canadian started the second act perfectly, leading up to 4-0, before remaining solid against the attacks of the 27-year-old Czech, winner of four tournaments on the main circuit.

Victorious 6-4 in the 2nd and 3rd sets, Leylah Fernandez will make her return among the 50 best players in the world on Monday.
