Every morning in the world, Love your father, Les Apprentis… Guillaume Depardieu was one of the most talented actors of his generation. In October 2008, the son of Gérard Depardieu flew to Romania to shoot in director Alex Iordachescu’s new film entitled L’Enfance d’Icare. It was during the filming of this feature film that the 37-year-old actor contracted pneumonia as well as a new infection due to staphylococcus aureus. Repatriated to the Garches hospital in the Hauts-de-Seine, he died there three days after contracting the disease, on October 13, 2008.

The following October 17 took place his funeral at the church of Bougival during which his relatives paid him homage. His father had quoted an excerpt from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Little Prince: “You understand. It’s too far. I can’t, take that body away. It’s too heavy. – I was silent. He said to me: you are there, he took my hand, but he still tormented himself”, he had read. Guillaume Depardieu was cremated after his funeral and his ashes were buried in the Bougival cemetery in the Yvelines.

In an interview with Paris Match, Julie Depardieu, two years her junior, had mentioned the disappearance of the latter. “When he died, I lost my other half,” she said and continued: “I no longer wanted to live, my pain was immense. Now, I am convinced that there is better somewhere than down here. That reassures me. Death is not so disgusting”.

In August 2022, on the occasion of the promotion of the film Green shutters, the monster of French cinema Gérard Depardieu confided in Madame Figaro about the institution he holds responsible for his disappearance. “I will add that I refute justice. As long as it is not fair, I do not want it. It is political, I have never believed in it, and it caused the death of my son”, had -he declares. In 1988, Guillaume Depardieu was sentenced to three years in prison for using, importing and trafficking heroin.
