(Toronto) Fullback Gary Trent Jr. has opted out of his contract with the Toronto Raptors for next season.
The option for the 2023-24 season is worth US$18.8 million.
Trent, 24, averaged 17.4 points per game last season, making 36.9% of his three-pointers.
He had done better in 2021-22, averaging 18.3 points per game and 38.3% efficiency from beyond the three-point arc.
Trent played his first two and a half seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Raptors acquired his services in a trade that sent Norm Powell to Oregon.
He signed a three-year, $51.8 million contract with the Raptors ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Point guard Fred VanVleet and center Jakob Poeltl are the two important Raptors players who can still claim full free agency this summer.
VanVleet rejected a 22.8 million option earlier this month.
