Kent Hughes is actually about to put his phone on silent. The general manager of the Canadian has settled two of the last three outstanding files for the next season.

He has indeed granted contracts to independent players with compensation Lucas Condotta and Nicolas Beaudin. In both cases, these are two-way agreements, that is to say that the players will receive different salaries, depending on whether they play in the NHL or in the American League.

Condotta agreed for two years with the CH, while Beaudin signed a one-year agreement.

Condotta, an undrafted player, got his NHL debut in the season finale on April 13. He took the opportunity to score from his very first appearance, as Mario Lemieux, Alexander Mogilny and Trevor Stienburg did before him. The 25-year-old Ontarian had just spent the season in Laval, where he had 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 72 games. Condotta joined the Canadiens in the spring of 2022, after four years at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Beaudin was acquired from the Blackhawks last October against forward Cam Hillis. In 39 games with the Rocket, the Quebec defender has amassed 25 points, including two goals. He has 22 games of NHL experience, all with Chicago.

Beaudin was drafted in the 1st round (27th overall) in 2018.

Forward Jesse Ylönen is now the only player without a contract in the organization. The 23-year-old Finn is a restricted free agent. Like many workers, he divided his time between Laval and Montreal last season. With the Habs, he scored 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 37 games.
