Do you usually open a packet of chips or tortillas for an aperitif? Take care! Some of these foodstuffs have been voluntarily recalled since Tuesday July 26 and Wednesday July 27, 2022.

The reason why they are to be brought back to the store? The possible presence of tropane alkaloids in corn flour products, where traces of this product have been detected. This molecule, according to Passeport Santé, is an organic substance of plant origin.

It has the particularity of being potentially toxic and harmful to the body, depending on its use. This molecule is contained in certain weeds or “weeds” which would have been present in the fields at the time of the corn harvest, indicates Rappel Conso. In addition, it is found in certain medicines, stimulants, poisons or drugs.

This “weed” therefore theoretically presents a health risk for the consumer. Indeed, the site indicates that it causes temporary health problems such as nausea, dizziness and headaches. This is why packages of tortillas and chips are considered unfit for sale.

The procedure to follow is to avoid any consumption of these items and to bring them back to the point of sale. You will be able to get a refund.

In the event of a complaint, contact the brand selling the products.
