(Toronto) Forward Matthew Knies will miss at least the Toronto Maple Leafs’ next two games against the Florida Panthers with a concussion.

Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe added Friday that Knies is unlikely to return to play in the series.

The 20-year-old American forward was injured in Thursday’s 3-2 loss in the second game of the series against the Panthers.

Knies was cross-checked by Sam Bennett against the boards. The Panthers forward then grabbed his rival’s head, throwing him from behind onto the ice behind the Panthers’ net.

Bennett was not penalized on the play. Knies did not return to play after the first period.

The Maple Leafs are down 2-0 in the series. The next two meetings will be presented Sunday and Wednesday in Florida.
