This year 2023, home insurance will increase by 5%, according to the comparator Assurland. Intended to protect the family patrimony (home and furniture) of a responsible household or victim of a claim, home insurance is not immune to inflation. This year, their average annual price drops from 216 euros in 2022 to 227 euros. However, from region to region, prices vary considerably. What’s up with you?

“To explain this almost general increase in prices, two main culprits have been identified. First, an increase in burglaries in France (11% on average, 41% in Brittany)”, analyzes the comparator Assurland. Indeed, in 2022, there were on average 5.8 burglaries per 1,000 homes in France.

“Secondly, the climatic disasters suffered by the territory are also responsible for this price increase”, adds the comparator. According to a study by the French insurance federation, France Assureurs, the cost of weather-related claims could double over the next 30 years. Enough to reach 143 billion euros cumulatively between 2020 and 2050, an increase of 93%.

No region is spared by the rise in prices, except Île-de-France. The latter recorded a stable evolution of its prices with even a very slight decrease of 0.25%. Discover in the slideshow below how much home insurance prices have increased this year depending on your region.
