In the 80s, comedian Helen Mirren had a passionate romance with a certain Liam Neeson, who became star of the Taken saga. The two stars had met on the set of the film Excalibur in which she played the fairy Morgan while the actor played the role of a knight of the round table.
Guests on Graham Norton’s television set in 2018, the two ex-lovers had confided in this idyll little known to the general public. “Before I met her and worked with her, I had read somewhere that if she liked a guy, she would imitate his gait behind his back. And, one day, I turned around and she was behind me in doing it”, explained the actor who was 35 years old at the time against 28 for his beloved. “I remember going on set with Ciarán Hinds and Helen walking towards us in her Morgana fairy costume and we were both thinking, ‘Oh shit!’ I was bewitched,” he continued. A confession that surprised the main interested party: “I didn’t know. You had never told me that”.
After their separation, the Oscar-winning actress for her role in the film The Queen married director Taylor Hackford in 1997. Liam Nisson, meanwhile, married comedian Natasha Richardson in 1994. The couple had two children: Michael Richard , in 1995 and Daniel Jack in 1996. Unfortunately, his wife tragically died in 2009 following a skiing accident in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.
