(TORONTO) The Toronto Blue Jays recalled right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah from their New Hampshire AA farm on Friday and placed reliever Jay Jackson on the list of players on paternity leave.

Manoah, who has spent the past month in the minors, was expected to be on the bench Friday night against the Tigers in Detroit.

The Jays’ opener starter has had a lot of trouble with his control this Major League season. He was assigned to the Florida Complex League on June 6.

Manoah struck out 10 in five innings in a recent start with the Fisher-Cats.

He will start Friday with a 1-7 record in 13 starts this season for the Blue Jays, and a stellar 6.36 ERA.

In 64 career starts with the Jays, Manoah is 26-16 with a 3.19 GAA.
