She was one of the leading artists of the New Wave. On July 25, 2013, Bernadette Lafont suddenly disappeared at the age of 74. The one who had known glory thanks to François Truffaut in Les Mistons and Claude Chabrol in Les Bonnes Femmes, was one of the most talented actresses of her generation. During her career, the mother of Pauline Lafont, who died tragically at the age of 25, excelled both on the small and big screen and in the theater.

While Bernadette Lafont had gone to rest in her family home in Saint-André-de-Valborgne, the star suffered a stroke on June 23, 2013. While recovering at the CHM de Grau-du-Roi, she suffered a heart attack the following July 22. After being rushed by the Samu to the University Hospital of Nîmes, she died there three days later.

During his funeral, the director Jean-Pierre Mocky, with whom the actress had shot in several of his films including A night at the national assembly, had paid him a beautiful tribute. “She started with the New Wave, so everyone hired her. Chabrol for Les Bonnes Femmes, Truffaut… If you like, she was the muse. She was colorful, she was a girl who was screaming, who was yelling all the time. And so, we got along well“, he confided as reported by our colleagues from Purepeople.

For his part, the director Lucien Jean-Baptiste had declared that she was “like a mother” for him. “We managed to pass the professional stage and become friends, at least for me. She’s a monster of the cinema and I’m really very sad because she was like a little mother for me. [… ] I was honored to know this woman, it was a joy”.
