(Cincinnati) Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow underwent surgery Monday to treat a torn ligament in his right wrist.
“The procedure went as planned and Burrow is expected to make a full recovery,” the Bengals said in a statement.
Burrow’s season ended when he was injured in a 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on November 16.
Rookie Jake Browning replaced him on Sunday. The Bengals (5-6) suffered a third consecutive loss, this time 16-10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The team did not provide details on Burrow’s surgery, but indicated he would return to Cincinnati to begin his recovery.
The quarterback missed training camp due to a calf injury that limited his movement at the start of the season.
Browning is expected to be the starting quarterback next Monday, when the Bengals visit the Jacksonville Jaguars.
