We know a little more about the reasons that led to the arrest of Alex Galchenyuk by the Scottsdale police last Sunday. The former Canadiens prospect allegedly threatened a police officer to “chop” him and cut the kidneys of his family members.

Katie Strang of The Athletic reported on Thursday that Alex Galchenyuk was arrested on Sunday for, among other charges, hit and run on private property, disturbing public order, resisting arrest and uttering threats.

Arizona news outlet 12News obtained a copy of the police report on Friday. This indicates that the mood of the hockey player would have changed radically during his interactions with the police. The 29-year-old athlete, who reportedly showed signs of impaired faculties, allegedly made numerous violent threats towards one of the police officers. In particular, he would have said that he was going to “end his line”.

“One call and you’re dead,” he reportedly added.

A policeman claimed that Galchenyuk allegedly swore racial slurs at him.

Also according to the police report, Galchenyuk’s father, present at the scene, reportedly mentioned that he had never seen his son act so aggressively before.

Recall that the 3rd choice overall in 2012 was imprisoned on Sunday evening, before being released and charged the next day. The Arizona Coyotes abruptly terminated his contract on Thursday, just 12 days after signing it.
