(Chicago) The American and Mexican soccer federations submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup on Friday.

The duo should compete with Brazil and a joint Germany-Netherlands-Belgium project.

No proposed stadium has been announced by the USSF and Mexican soccer’s governing body.

The USSF said the bid plans to leverage the hosting of the 2026 Men’s World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

“The United States and Mexico are in a unique position to host a World Cup with the same venues, infrastructure and protocols as the (2026) World Cup,” said American soccer No. 1 Cindy Parlow Cone in a statement. .

The United States hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1991 and 1999.

South Africa announced a bid in September, then withdrew it last month.

FIFA is due to inspect the proposed venues in February and the FIFA Congress is due to make its choice in May.
