(Markham) Internet provider Xplore announced on Tuesday an expansion of its fiber optic network in Quebec, with the connection to the internet by fiber optic of more than 27,000 residences and businesses in five regional county municipalities (RCMs).

As a result, the MRCs of Pontiac, Les Sources, Vallée de la Gatineau, La Tuque and Papineau can now connect to fiber optic internet access. Over 95% of construction is complete in these areas, which Xplore says will significantly improve the quality of life for rural residents.

The Xplore network, which is partly funded by the Quebec government’s High Speed ​​Operation program, will eventually offer the Xplore Fiber network over 2,700 kilometers and provide internet access of up to 1 gigabit per second to more than 33,000 Quebec homes and businesses. in rural area.

Xplore expects to complete this important stage of its expansion project in September.
