(OTTAWA) Three Canadian Olympians have become Ottawa’s first members of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, the league announced on Tuesday.

Forwards Emily Clark and Brianne Jenner, as well as goalkeeper Emerance Maschmeyer, have accepted three-season contracts, which will therefore be valid until the end of the 2026 campaign. The salaries awarded have not been revealed.

All three were part of the Canadian team that won two of the three most recent editions of the World Women’s Hockey Championship and the most recent Winter Olympics.

Jenner, 32, was named the 2022 Beijing Games MVP when she tied an Olympic tournament record with nine goals.

Clark, 27, played in the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) from 2019-21, as well as the 2022-23 season, when she recorded 23 points in 20 games . Maschmeyer, 28, also played in the PWHPA.

The inaugural LPHF season kicks off in January with teams in the Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, St. Paul-Minneapolis and New York areas.
