After the heatwave comes the seasonal temperatures. Here are some ideas for heading into fall in style.

For its 24th edition, the MEG Montréal festival proposes to celebrate electronic music in two distinct locations: the Village au Pied-du-Courant, on the banks of the river, and Parc Jean-Drapeau, on the Piknic Électronik site. The shows presented on the Village’s pop-up beach are free. Until September 10, artists from various genres will offer sounds for all audiences, both for chilling and dancing. Note the presence of Nora En Pure (deep house), Vacra (French rap) and Ben UFO (techno, dubstep). Local artists include Jay Ramis, Nana Zen, Le Rotary Club and Marbré.

Extraordinary guests will take over the Bell Center from Friday to Sunday. More than twenty life-size dinosaurs will come to life on stage as the Jurassic World tour stops in the metropolis. Among the stars of this family show are a tyrannosaurus more than 40 feet long as well as the velociraptor Blue, well known to fans of the film franchise. Original, but faithful to the spirit of the films, the story follows a group of scientists whose mission is to save a new dinosaur from a tragic fate. After Montreal, prehistoric creatures will take over Quebec and the Videotron Center, from September 28 to October 1.

Starting this Friday, the Théâtre la Marjolaine and the village of Eastman will host the 21st edition of Correspondances d’Eastman, which this year will be entirely devoted to the Quebec essay. The journal Lettres québécoises will also take the opportunity to announce the first winners of its new Quebec essay prize. Documentaries produced by Estrie filmmakers on literary voices from the region (such as Alfred Desrochers, Nelly Arcan, Louis Hamelin and Hélène Dorion) will be screened during the event, while we will be able to attend the stage adaptation of the essay by Mélikah Abdelmoumen Baldwin, Styron and me. Major interviews are also planned with Hélène Dorion, Jean-Philippe Pleau, Yvon Rivard, Dominique Fortier and Étienne Beaulieu, as well as literary cafés, writing workshops and an exhibition.

Around twenty emerging artists will present their works and ephemeral installations as part of the 6th Artch festival. Gran Turismo tells the story of Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) who, after being identified as one of the best players in the popular video game, became a professional racing driver. David Harbor (Stranger Things, Black Widow) plays Jack Salter, a former racing driver who joins Jann’s entourage. “The cinematography by Jacques Jouffret (the first three The Purge) is impeccable, as is the sound design and editing. We haven’t seen such an exciting race on the big screen in a long time. We leave the room pumped up with an irrepressible desire to hit the road listening to Black Sabbath… or Kenny G,” journalist Pascal LeBlanc tells us in his review published on August 25.

Richelieu is the first feature film by Pier-Philippe Chevigny, starring Ariane Castellanos, Marc-André Grondin, Nelson Coronado and Luis Oliva. Ariane (Ariane Castellanos) is the new French-Spanish interpreter for a food processing company that hires Guatemalans. The interpreter must work with Stéphane (Marc-André Grondin), a brittle and inflexible boss. “It is in part thanks to his performance, particularly the acting of Ariane Castellanos and Nelson Coronado, that the full force of the film unfolds. Their touching complicity adds a pinch of sweetness to this story that is more difficult than cheerful. We can’t wait to see what Pier-Philippe Chevigny has in store for Quebec cinema, because his signature as director certainly has the potential to serve social justice,” journalist Audrey-Anne Blais tells us in her review published on September 1.
