The Foo Fighters kicked off their new world tour by revealing their new drummer; veteran Josh Freese will take the place of the late Taylor Hawkins, who died last March in South America while touring with Dave Grohl’s band.

Freese, who has performed with Nine Inch Nails, Guns N’Roses and A Perfect Circle, among others, was behind the skins in Gilford, New Hampshire on Wednesday for the first gig of the band’s new tour, which will stop at Quebec Summer Festival, July 8. Freese was officially introduced to the public last Sunday during the “Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts” webcast.

According to Blabbermouth, the 21 songs played Wednesday night at Gilford included four new tracks that will appear on the band’s 11th album, But Here We Are, due out June 2. It was the first extract Rescued which was played as a curtain raiser, the other songs from the new album which premiered were Under You, Nothing at All as well as the title track.

Incidentally, the Foo Fighters unveiled a new single this Thursday, the mind-blowing Show Me How, which is likely to be played during the 28-date tour that will take them to five countries.
