(New York) Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and her American partner Nathaniel Lammons lost 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the US Open in mixed doubles to Demi Schuurs and Hugo Nys.

Dabrowski and Lammons faced the seventh seeds in mixed doubles.

They hit four of the game’s 10 aces, while each pair committed three double faults.

Schuurs and Nys won just two points more than their opponents in the match, with a total of 59.

In women’s doubles, Dabrowski and her 16th-seeded teammate Erin Routliffe won their first-round match Thursday 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 over Lauren Davis and Anastasia Detiuc. They will face Fang-Hsien Wu and Zhu Lin in the second round on Saturday.

For their part, the Lavalloise Leylah Annie Fernandez and the American Taylor Townsend, sixth seeds in women’s doubles, will also play their second round match on Saturday. They have an appointment with the Spaniards Aliona Bolsova and Rebeka Masarova.
