He held on, not without difficulty, to win his 24th grand slam tournament title. After a three-hour, 17-minute battle, Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final in three sets of 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.

The two attackers engaged in a constant battle. Djokovic and Medvedev were imperial from the back of the court, collecting exchanges of more than 20 shots.

But if Djokokovic managed to join Margaret Court at the top of history with 24 major titles, it is by his excellence at the net.

Medvedev started his match difficult, trailing by three games in the first set, but the Russian never gave up.

He was giving the Serb a hard time as the match progressed, but Djoko suffocated him until he ran out of oxygen.
