(Toronto) The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that goaltender Matt Murray will be sidelined for six to eight months after undergoing bilateral hip surgery.

The Toronto team acquired Murray from the Ottawa Senators in 2022.

At the start of training camp, general manager Brad Treliving said Murray was going to have to undergo “significant surgery.” However, he did not want to discuss the injury or the procedure at that time.

Murray, 29, posted a 14-8-2 record with a .903 save percentage and 3.01 goals-against average in 26 games with the Maple Leafs in 2022-23.
