(Ottawa) Brady Tkachuk scored two goals to help the Ottawa Senators beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 on Sunday night.

Mathieu Joseph, Vladimir Tarasenko and Tim Stützle also hit the target, while Joonas Korpisalo obtained his first victory and his first point with the Senators (2-1-0), he who blocked 22 shots.

The two teams had played the day before, with the Senators winning 5-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers, while the Lightning lost 6-4 against the Detroit Red Wings.

At age 29, Matt Tomkins was making his NHL debut. The goalie stopped 33 pucks in his first start.

Anthony Cirelli and Tanner Jeannot scored the Lightning’s two goals.

Up 3-2, Tkachuk gave the Senators some breathing space, scoring midway through the third period. The attacker beat Tomkins between the pads.

Stutzle scored his team’s fifth goal into an empty net. Korpisalo collected an assist on the goal.

The Senators scored the first goal in a third straight game.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper was assigned his 800th game behind the bench. His record is 481-251-67.
