On his Instagram account @globetolter, the youtubeur Tolt asked a tricky question to his 76,000 subscribers: “What is the worst city in France?” “It’s up to you to vote for the ‘so-called’ worst city in France! It will give me a good excuse to go there and show you that these are probably prejudices”, can we read in the caption of one of his posts. The passionate travel influencer wants to “show that all cities have something to offer.”

To establish its ranking, Tolt selected the 32 largest cities in France (apart from Paris) and offered to decide between them in a succession of duels on Instagram. About a thousand subscribers participated in each round. According to Tolt, no particular criteria justified the choice of a particular municipality. “They voted for the city that attracted them the least”, he summarizes for our colleagues from Ouest-France.

The influencer wants to raise awareness in his community about other ways to travel, whether by going on vacation in a city that is victim of prejudice or by not taking the plane anymore. “The environmental situation is catastrophic and I consider that as an influencer, my duty is to talk about it and try to change certain mentalities”, explains the young man.

From his commitment was born a project: Hourrail, a site that advocates responsible tourism. Tolt wants his platform to become a reference for all people who no longer want to fly. “Going to Turkey without a plane, is it possible? Well yes!” On his social networks, the influencer then highlights all the positive points of train travel. “You shouldn’t consider it a waste of time. It’s part of the trip,” he told our colleagues from Ouest-France.
