There will be a large delegation of former and current players from the Montreal Canadiens organization with Canada at the Spengler Cup during the holiday season.
Jordie Benn, Nathan Beaulieu, Nicolas Beaudin, Éric Gélinas and Daniel Audette will all wear the colors of the maple leaf for this tournament which will be held in Davos, between December 26 and 31. Beaudin, a defender, was released from the Laval Rocket on Thursday to allow him to participate.
Quebecers Guillaume Asselin, Jonathan Hazen and Michael Joly will also be there. The full training is available here.
The team will be led on the bench by head coach Bruce Boudreau. Joe Thornton will be one of two general managers, alongside Brad Pascall.
The Spengler Cup is the second oldest ice hockey competition in the world, after the Stanley Cup. It takes place annually in Davos, Switzerland. It mainly involves European clubs as well as certain national teams.
With its 16 titles, Canada is the most successful country in this competition which has existed since 1923. It has not won it since 2019.
