(Davos) Chris DiDomenico scored two goals and an assist to help Canada win its quarterfinal match 6-3 against KalPa Kuopio on Friday at the Spengler Cup.

DiDomenico completed the scoring into an empty net with 43 seconds left.

The Canadians led 5-0 early in the third period, before seeing the opponent score three goals in a row, off the sticks of Colby Sissons, Jaakko Rissanen and Kasper Simontaival. All three u KalPa Kuopio goals were scored in the space of 11 minutes of play.

Jonathan Ang and John Quenneville scored for Canada in the first period, while DiDominco scored his first goal of the match late in the second period.

Juha Jatkola was pulled in favor of an extra player, Stefanos Lekkas, early in the third period after Canada scored two goals within 24 seconds of each other. Jonathan Hazen and Guillaume Asselin were the scorers.

With this victory, Canada ensures that it obtains a better result than last year, when it lost its quarter-final match.
