This Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners announced a price drop on several of its products starting August 1, LSA reveals. For a period of 3 months, a promotion of 10% immediate discount will be applied to a selection of drinks. A welcome gesture in the persistent context of inflation.

In its press release, the Coca-Cola group explains that it is organizing this anti-inflation operation “in order to preserve the purchasing power of the French people” because “inflation is not good for anyone”. A reference, according to BFMTV, to the tensions around negotiations between large retailers and manufacturers.

According to INSEE, inflation reached 5.8% over one year in May 2023. Households are suffering greatly from this context of general price increases. However, in mid-May, following a statement by Bruno Le Maire, the biggest manufacturers had agreed to negotiate with large retailers and lower their prices. But, since the end of June, the distributors have only mentioned “small discussions” and not real “trade negotiations”.

Coca-Cola then undertakes “to make these promotions accessible and visible to consumers”. According to the company, the products selected correspond to the purchases of households most affected by inflation.
