(Beijing) The German duo Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin won the final of the Beijing Grand Prix in the pair skating event on Friday.

In the lead after Thursday’s short program, Germany’s Hase and Russia’s Volodin, who skate under the German banner, scored a total of 206.43 points after Friday’s free skate.

They are ahead of the Italian couple Sara Conti and Niccolo Macii (205.88 pts) and the Canadians Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps (204.30 pts).

“We are super happy. We entered this competition without any expectations and finishing in first place is more than we could have wished for,” said Fabienne Hase.

The pair have only been skating together since October 2022, but have won the Finnish Grand Prix and the NHK Trophy.

To the music of The Path of Silence, Hase and Volodin placed second in the free program, behind European champions Conti and Macii, but the lead gained thanks to a flawless short program was enough for them to win the competition.
