Thanked by the Rismouki Oceanic on Monday after 12 years with the organization, Serge Beausoleil says he welcomes this decision “with humility and gratitude”.

The 56-year-old manager spoke about his dismissal as general manager and head coach of the Oceanic on Tuesday in a long message posted on his Facebook page.

“The last twelve years spent in Rimouski are forever marked in my memory,” writes Beausoleil. I have a boundless attachment to this city, this region, this bottom of the river which is so welcoming, so passionate. Like our supporters, as demanding as they are loving. I will forever carry them in my heart. »

“I leave with my head held high,” he adds. I am so proud of the work done. From our assessment with the entire management team. »

In his letter, the man who ranks 10th in QMJHL history for the number of victories in the season (426) thanks a whole group of people, including the team of scouts and educational services, the administrative and medical team, pensions, the media, Maurice Tanguay and the players.

“Our players, what a job they’ve done this year in this final transition to honours. It is these same solid, tightly woven bonds that have allowed me to be demanding of them, to push them, to love them. To promote the care of young people by veterans. To surpass oneself for the common good, for greater than oneself. To have the right to make mistakes, not excuses. To discover honor even in defeat. Finally, to see toddlers grow to human height. Again a thousand thanks. It has been a privilege to lead you. »

“Rimouski my beautiful, you saw the birth of Sarah and Marie. Grow in us the pride of being whipped by the wind from the bottom. We leave you with a heavy heart, but our soul has a smile on its face. »
