(Boucherville) Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Maxim Massé was named player of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday.

Massé, who is 17, scored six goals and added two assists to his record in three games last week with the Saguenéens.

The hockey player from Rimouski first scored two goals in his team’s 4-2 victory against the Rimouski Océanic on Thursday evening. Massé then scored two goals – including one in an empty net – and an assist in the Saguenéens’ 5-3 victory against the Shawinigan Cataractes on Saturday.

Massé capped his dream week by adding three more points (2-1) to his record in the 6-5 victory the next day against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Massé, the Canadian Hockey League and QMJHL rookie par excellence last year, currently ranks seventh in Cecchini Tour scoring with 17 points in 12 games. He will be eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft.

The Quebecer succeeded Jérémie Minville, of the Gatineau Olympics, as player of the week in the QMJHL.
