Rick Bowness has temporarily left his position as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba team announced Monday.
His decision came after his wife, Judy, suffered a stroke on Sunday.
She is still hospitalized, undergoing a battery of medical tests.
Associate coach Scott Arniel will serve as head coach of the Jets, in Bowness’ absence.
Bowness is 48-35-3 since becoming head coach of the Jets heading into the 2022-23 season.
He managed the Dallas Stars for two and a half seasons before joining the Manitoba club.
The Jets are 2-3-0 this season, and they will face the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
