American singer and poet Patti Smith has reportedly been hospitalized in Italy, forcing the cancellation of her show.
The legendary 76-year-old rocker was due to perform at the Teatro Duse in Bologna on Tuesday evening.
A few hours before the concert, the establishment announced that the artist, “stricken by a sudden illness”, would not be able to go on stage.
“We are all sorry for the inconvenience caused by this news. We wish the artist a speedy recovery,” the theater said in an Instagram post.
According to Italian media outlet TGCOM24, Patti Smith was hospitalized. However, his publicists did not confirm the news.
The singer was due to perform in Venice on Thursday. His next shows are scheduled for the end of December in the United States.
