With songs like Ms. Jackson and Hey Ya!, the hip-hop duo OutKast enjoyed global success in the early 2000s. After a long absence, André 3000 announces his return to the world of music. And the avenue he chose is surprising to say the least.

The former member of Outkast will release his very first solo opus this Friday, he revealed on social networks. A completely instrumental album on which he plays… the flute.

In an interview with the American radio network NPR, the artist details that New Blue Sun was created in collaboration with percussionist and producer Carlos Niño. He explains that he began recording musical improvisation sessions with himself and other musicians, without intending to make an album.

Eventually, New Blue Sun was born. The 87-minute opus features eight instrumental pieces, some of which have humorous titles, such as I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A’Rap’Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.
