(London) The BBC announced on Tuesday that two other people have complained about Russell Brand since the channel launched an investigation into the actor and comedian’s behavior.
The BBC was providing an update on its investigation after British media published allegations in September by four women that they were sexually assaulted by Brand between 2006 and 2013, at the height of his fame.
The 48-year-old artist has denied the allegations.
The comedian worked as a radio presenter at the BBC from 2006 to 2008. The channel says it recorded a total of five complaints, including two people who raised complaints and concerns while Brand was working there and again after his departure from the company.
Another person filed a separate complaint after Brand’s departure, and two more people have come forward since the BBC launched its investigation in September.
Peter Johnston, the broadcaster’s director of editorial complaints, did not specify the nature of the latest allegations. But his news site reported that they “are related to his conduct in the workplace and are not of a serious sexual nature.”
The complaints against Brand, published in September by The Times and Sunday Times newspapers and in a Channel 4 documentary, include allegations that Brand sexually assaulted a woman during a relationship with him when she was 16 . Another woman claims Brand raped her in Los Angeles in 2012. The accusers have not been named.
Referring to allegations by one of the women that Brand used BBC cars to drive her from school to her home when she was 16, the channel said it no longer had her recordings of car reservations at that time.
Investigations are still ongoing.
“While my work is by no means complete and therefore cannot yet draw any conclusions, it would appear that no disciplinary action was taken against Russell Brand during his engagement with the BBC in 2006-8 prior to his departure from the BBC,” Mr Johnston said.
Two British police forces, the Metropolitan Police and Thames Valley Police, launched investigations against Brand after the allegations were published.
Brand released a statement saying his relationships were “always consensual.”
