(New York) The NBA has fined Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden US$100,000 for comments he made in public about his status with the team.

Harden went public on August 14 and 17, saying he was not going to fulfill his contract requirements until he was traded to another team. The league spoke with Harden during an investigation, confirming his remarks were related to Harden not believing the 76ers will trade him, as he requested.

In June, Harden exercised the option on his contract for the 2023-24 season, but the 76ers still failed to trade him, which angered Harden. He notably called 76ers president Daryl Morey a liar at a promotional event in China.

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be in the same organization as him,” Harden said at the event. I repeat: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be part of the same organization as him. »

Harden has been one of the league’s best players for several years, having won three scoring championships and being named NBA MVP in 2018. Last season, he led the league in assists. However, he still hasn’t won an NBA championship and is running out of time as he celebrates his 34th birthday this week.
