She is the favorite guardian angel of the French. Since 1997, Mimie Mathy has played the governess Joséphine Delamarre in the famous fiction on TF1. A landmark role in the career of the actress, acclaimed by fans and viewers for over 25 years.

Asked by Ciné Télé Revue, the famous sexagenarian still hasn’t returned from the success of the fiction that made her popular. “It’s an incredible adventure, especially in our time when it’s a bit like the reign of Kleenex TV. Such longevity was unexpected,” says chef Benoist Gérard’s wife. A success that continues over the seasons through several generations of viewers. “It’s true. Lots of people tell me that they looked at me when they were little and that it is now their children who follow me”, she assures our Belgian colleagues.

For this incredible anniversary, Mimie Mathy is surrounded by her actress friends Michèle Bernier and Isabelle de Botton in the special episode of Joséphine, guardian angel broadcast last December. An unexpected dream for the actress who found her two accomplices on the set. “It was the producers who surprised me. At first, I said to myself that we would never be able to reconcile our agendas. But we got there. It’s fabulous”, confides the actress and member of the trio Les filles in the 1980s.

If actress Mimie Mathy remains popular on the small screen, she has gone through some defining moments in her career. Before meeting her future husband who came to attend one of her shows in 2005, the actress was close to actor Yvan Burger, whom she met when she debuted in Le petit theater de Bouvard. “We became very intimate, a real bond existed between us. I had a very great physical attraction for him… I knew that I was in love with him”, she confided in her autobiography Mimie Mathy by Mimie Mathy, published in 1994 published by Hachette/Carrère. “We were often seen together in photos… hand in hand”.

While the two actors have simply remained friends, their closeness was not to the taste of a “spectator, madly in love with Yvan” who “wrote to him one day: ‘we must stop this relationship with Mimie. It’s me whom you must marry, I am the woman of your life. Mimie is not made for you!'”. As our colleagues from France Sunday reported, the French actress went through hell because of this intrusive admirer who did not hesitate to harass her on a daily basis… Discover 10 unusual facts to know about Mimie Mathy in our slideshow below.
