The Cowboys Fringants cancel the show they were to give in Sherbrooke on Friday because of the treatment that singer Karl Tremblay must undergo. The Simple Plan group will take over.

The organization of the Lac des Nations Festival made the announcement on Thursday morning, on the eve of the scheduled show.

“Due to the schedule of treatments that the singer of Les Cowboys Fringants must undergo, it will be impossible for him to take the stage during this week’s show. The members of the group promise to recover, as soon as the situation allows it and the Cowboys team would like to thank the fans of Sherbrooke for their support, “he wrote in a press release.

In the same breath, the Fête du Lac des Nations team announced that the group Simple Plan will perform on the Grande Scène Loto-Québec on Friday. Simple Plan claims to have accepted the request “with humility and with the utmost respect”. “We can’t ‘replace’ a band like the Cowboys, but we’ll do the best we can to give everyone a great night out,” the band said in the statement, sending their best wishes for health and recovery to Karl Tremblay and his family.

Last summer, Karl Tremblay announced that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer two years earlier. He first underwent chemotherapy treatments before starting a new treatment this spring.

The show that the Cowboys Fringuants were to give on July 13 at the Festival d’été de Québec was also canceled at the last minute due to the risk of severe thunderstorms, but the group was able to resume its show four days later.
