(Toronto) Aimia posted a net loss of $23.3 million for its most recent quarter on Thursday, a period that preceded two acquisitions in the manufacturing sector.

The Toronto-based holding company said net income for its fourth quarter compared with a net loss of $14.6 million for the same period last year.

Aimia’s basic loss per common share was 32 cents for the three months ended Dec. 31, down from 19 cents for the same period a year earlier.

Since the end of this quarter, Aimia announced in January that it would acquire rope and netting manufacturer Tufropes for 252.6 million.

The transaction with Tufropes is expected to close on Thursday and add $130 million in annual revenue.

Aimia will also acquire Italian chemical manufacturer Giovanni Bozzetto for $332.4 million, a transaction expected to close in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.
