Regulated gas sales tariffs (TRV) say goodbye. These gas supply contracts, created in 1946, have their prices fixed once a year by the State. “They are marketed only by so-called historical suppliers: Engie or local distribution companies (ELD)”, specifies the official website of the public service.

As part of the 2019 energy-climate law, these tariffs will disappear on July 1, 2023 for individuals and condominiums, and will give way to contracts whose tariffs are indexed to stock market prices.

According to Capital, this change could lead to many unpleasant surprises for households. Different pitfalls could be set for you, but there are also ways to protect yourself from them. Reference price, new gateway offer, contractual modifications… In our slideshow below, discover the new jargon to master so as not to blow up the bill.

If your gas supplier wishes to make any contractual changes as a result, he is obliged to notify you at least one month before the intended date of application. “Your gas supplier has therefore necessarily already sent you a letter or an email to explain the new pricing method from next month, as well as the new rates applied”, specifies the magazine specializing in economics.

So check the latest emails and letters received by your supplier: a short line could well inform you of the changes to come in the coming weeks.
