(Toronto) The Canadians concluded the group stage of the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship with a victory in overtime against their great American rivals (4-3), Wednesday in Brampton (Ontario).

The Canadians, two-time reigning world champions and 2022 Olympic champions, are the only ones in Group A to have won their four group matches, with only four goals conceded, including three against the Americans.

They will face in the quarter-finals on Thursday the Swedes, 3rd in group B and qualified for the quarter-finals in 8th position thanks to their large victory (8-2) against the French, thanks to four goals and three assists from Hanna Olson.

In the other quarter-finals, the United States, beaten by Canada in the final of the last three major international meetings, will be opposed to Germany, the Czech Republic to Finland and Switzerland to Japan.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, the final and the match for 3rd place on Sunday.
