This Tuesday, January 24, France Stratégie and Dares, which is none other than the statistics body attached to the Ministry of Labour, published a new study on the employment sector in metropolitan France. In March 2022, a study with a slightly different focus was made public, on the professions that will need the most labor in the next 10 years, as reported by our colleagues from Capital.
The new study, meanwhile, focuses on the ten professions that are likely to recruit the most by 2030. The nuance is subtle, but important to note: it lies in the data used in the context of each report. First of all, this study reports on the situation region by region. The conclusions drawn are then reported on the scale of the metropolitan territory as a whole. The weight of each region in the national employment rate was therefore taken into account.
In addition, the authors of this report considered two other main factors in their analysis. Namely, the number of retirements as well as the number of net job creations or destructions expected between 2019 and 2030. One of the conclusions that can be drawn from this study is that the professions most seeking to recruiting at the present time will not necessarily be the most demanding in the long term. One of the causes of this phenomenon would be the differentiated number of departures at the end of their careers.
Indeed, many more teachers will retire in 2030 than computer scientists, this sector of employment will then be more demanding in terms of recruitment. Finally, it should be kept in mind that the pension reform was not taken into account in the calculation that led to the results of this study. Considering the fact that it has not yet entered into force, or even been adopted, this makes sense. However, this factor could still impact the results of the study, at least to some extent.
