(Scottsdale) Defenseman Matt Dumba has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Arizona Coyotes, a person with knowledge of the matter told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity, the contract having not yet been signed.

Dumba played 10 seasons with Minnesota. The Wild picked him seventh overall in the 2012 draft.

The 29-year-old had a 50-point season in 2017-18, playing every game for his team.

The Saskatchewan native had four goals and 14 points last season in 79 games.

Dumba should greatly help the Coyotes on the blue line, in addition to providing leadership within a young team.

He won the King Clancy Trophy after the 2019-20 season.

The prize is awarded to the player who best embodies leadership on and off the ice, in particular through a great involvement in the community.
