Andre De Grasse still hopes to regain his former form.

The six-time Olympic medalist and reigning Olympic 200m champion is trying to move on from 2022 as he was held back by a foot injury.

He still hasn’t reached the 100m and 200m qualifying standards for the World Championships in Athletics in August, and the window to do so will close on Sunday. The Ontarian therefore hopes to be at the top of his game when it matters most, that is to say during the Canadian trials which will take place later this week.

“It’s been hard to come back from that (that injury), to get my form back,” he agreed. Right now, I know it might take a while, but I have to be patient, hold on, and tell myself that I will get through this.

“I’m healthy now, and just trying to get my old reflexes back. I feel good mentally, and I just have to allow my body to come back to its full potential,” he added.

“I hope Mother Nature will cooperate, which will allow me to set good times and qualify for the World Championships, continued De Grasse, who wore a jersey on which appeared the logo ‘Kids Help Phone’. and who was encouraged by the staff and volunteers of this program in the stands.

While waiting for him to get back in shape, he continues his work with an initiative he launched several years ago.

The Andre De Grasse Future Champions Scholarship Program, launched in 2018, helps high school student-athletes find success on and off the track.
