At a time when many households are considering keeping their vehicle due to price increases and runaway interest rates, the American magazine Consumer Reports has compiled a list of the most durable vehicles.

Using its massive database largely built on annual surveys completed by its members, the outlet has compiled a list of 12 models with the highest probability of reaching 320,000 km (200,000 miles).

Unsurprisingly, Toyota comes out on top, with seven models covering many segments: Camry, Prius, Sienna, Corolla, Highlander, 4Runner and Tacoma. It is the Toyota Camry which occupies the first place in the ranking.

Honda is a close second, with four models including two on the podium: the second-place Accord and the bronze-winning CR-V. The Civic and Pilot close the standings in 11th and 12th places.

Besides these two Japanese brands, only Ford can claim to be on this list. The hugely popular F-150 ranks sixth, securing a single accolade for an American model.

Consumer Reports obviously points out that this proven durability must be backed up by a rigorous maintenance program in order to prevent more costly mechanical problems.
