The automatic declaration of income is a declarative mode allowing certain tax households to be exempted from filing a declaration, when the pre-filled information and known to the tax services is correct and exhaustive for the calculation of the tax on Income.

Nothing prevents you from not automatically declaring your income, but the automatic declaration of income makes it possible to simplify the administrative task entrusted to you.

Indeed, the providers of this service will be informed directly, either by e-mail for Internet taxpayers, or by post for those who are not. From then on, all you have to do is re-read the information known to the tax authorities, and thus modify it if it is not correct, or otherwise, do not change anything if the pre-filled declaration is correct.

Thereafter, there is nothing left for you to do, because your declaration will be automatically validated by the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) and available in your private space on the impots.gouv.fr website.

This new system is aimed at at least 12 million taxpayers, but there are still many excluded tax households. There remains as long as a decree was signed in April 2020 by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, listing all the taxpayers who are unable to claim this administrative device.
