A few months after the presentation of the coupé version, it is now the turn of the Volante variant of the Aston Martin DB12 to see the light of day. This convertible version perpetuates a long tradition of grand touring convertibles born in its workshops in Gaydon, England.
Powered by the same 671 hp, 590 lb-ft 4.0L twin-turbo V8 and primed by Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance arm, this sculpture on wheels is capable of smashing 0-60 mph in 3.7 s. Its eight-speed automatic transmission sends its torque only to the rear wheels via an electronic differential.
In terms of stiffness, this convertible livery is essentially as resilient as its predecessor, increasing its torsional stiffness by just 3.7%. Aston Martin says tuning its suspension components now makes it as dynamically efficient an alternative as the coupe.
The soft top also takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 seconds to raise. It can be activated remotely using the vehicle key. The first Aston Martin DB12 Volante will be delivered from the end of 2023.
