(New York) Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard was eliminated in the second round of qualifying ahead of the US Open.

Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine defeated Bouchard 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in a two-hour, seven-minute duel.

Bouchard, ranked 216th in the world, had a bumpy serve game. She placed her first ball in play 57% of the time and won 61% of the points in this situation.

Yastremska, 111th in the world and 12th seed in qualifying, broke Bouchard’s serve four times in their duel. She was a little more opportunistic on serve, winning 76% of the points contested on her first serve.

Bouchard, 29, had just two of 11 break points she had. Yastremska, 23, was 4-for-11 in a broken situation.

British Columbian Vasek Pospisil was also scheduled to play his second round men’s singles qualifying match on Thursday.

Pospisil had an appointment with the American Zachary Svajda.
