Carey Price’s wife, Angela, had a mole removed from her groin in recent weeks, which turned out to be melanoma.

In a series of “stories” published Wednesday evening on her Instagram account, Angela Price recounts having consulted a dermatologist earlier this summer to have a mole that had appeared on the inside of her thigh examined. The said dermatologist then believed that it was a “cluster of red blood cells”.

“I had it removed. It came back as a melanoma and it was just deep enough that it could have spread into my lymph nodes,” says the mother.

So she went to a specialized unit in Portland, where a larger piece of skin was removed. He also had a lymph node biopsy done to see if the cancer had spread and how deep it was.

“[The doctor] estimated that the risk of spread is only about 12%. So I feel pretty confident. »

Angela Price must now wait five to seven days to find out if the cancer has spread. “They removed the lymph node from my groin, so it’s really painful and it’s hard to walk. And I have to put it down for two weeks, which really sucks,” she says.

“I don’t say it here out of sympathy,” she continues. Like I said, there’s only a 12% chance of this spreading, so I feel good about myself, but it’s just a little reminder if you need to get your skin checked…”

The first time she had the mole examined a year ago, she says, her doctor told her “not to worry” and that it “was a sign of old age.” “Well, I worried about that. I watched it change shape for eight months before going back to get it looked at (yes, I should have gone back way sooner). »

“Be an advocate for your own health! » she concludes.
