Straddling the end of winter and the first fine days, April is the month of all contrasts. This month of April 2023 is no exception. Thursday 20 and Friday 21 April 2023 will be marked by a significant north-south contrast, with temperature differences of nearly 15°C.

According to La Chaine Météo, from Thursday morning, an easterly wind will rise, following the passage of a cold drop, covering the northern half of France. This drop comes from a “minimum” of cold air coming from central Europe, explains Météo France. Simultaneously, a mild air will settle in the south. While temperatures will drop in the north, they will increase in the south. A significant gap will widen from Thursday afternoon to widen further on Friday. “A thermal contrast” which would last until Wednesday April 26, according to Météo France.

Thursday, north of the Seine, the east wind will be accompanied by showers and very cloudy weather. The feeling will be almost wintery and even “worthy of the beginning of March” according to La Chaine Météo. In the hottest part of the afternoon, it will be necessary to count on temperatures between 8 and 13°C, i.e. 5 to 8°C below seasonal norms.

On the other hand, this same Thursday, the departments located south of the Garonne will benefit from sunny and warm weather. The feeling will be summer with temperatures ranging from 20 to 25°C, i.e. 5 to 6°C above the average for the season.
