Following the rather unusual trend of transforming improbable models into vehicles capable of dealing with light off-roading, Ford recently launched the Rally version of its Mustang Mach-E electric crossover.
This mixed product seeks to infuse a little playfulness into this model which made its first public release almost four years ago.
19-inch Michelin CrossClimate2 tires with thicker sidewalls provide improved traction on loose surfaces without neglecting performance on asphalt. They are fitted with white rims similar to those bolted to many cars in the WRC rally championship.
20 mm higher, this Mach-E Rally features MagneRide electromagnetic shock absorbers working in concert with reworked springs. Skid plates have been added under the front and rear electric motors to avoid costly repairs.
Power is provided by a duo of electric motors producing 480 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, as much as the GT version. Ford specifies that the accelerator has been adjusted to ensure linear response from the electric motors. The range is targeted at 405 km, drawn from a 91 kWh battery.
The manufacturer has not specified how much this new variant of the Mach-E will cost. We will know more before its order book opens in early 2024.
