(Toronto) Chad Kelly’s touchdown pass and two-point conversion in the third quarter helped the Toronto Argonauts defeat the Ottawa Redblacks 40-27 at home on Saturday night.

Kelly propelled his team to a 34-27 lead with a 45-yard pass to DaVaris Daniels. Kelly then reached the end zone on his own to complete the two-point conversion.

Dewayne Hendrix recovered the loose ball from Rouge et Noir quarterback Dustin Crum on the last play of the third quarter. This gave the Argonauts offense the ball at the Rouge et Noir 25-yard line.

Boris Bede then made a 21-yard field goal 1:59 into the fourth quarter. Bede added three more points, this time from the 13-yard line, to make it 40-27.

The Argonauts defense managed nine sacks, including eight in the second half.

The Toronto team therefore finished the season with a perfect 9-0 record at home, although one of these victories was in Halifax. Their 1997 team also went 9-0.

Crum finished completing 13 of 16 passes for 183 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was replaced by Tyrell Pigrome in the fourth quarter.

Devonte Williams ran for a total of 125 yards in 16 possessions and scored a touchdown.

Kelly completed 18 of 28 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown. He added 45 yards rushing. Cameron Dukes completed the game in the fourth quarter.
